Induction surface hardening is an alternative type of heat treatment that is used when hardness is not desired in the entire part. It is especially preferred in the automotive industry.
In the induction surface hardening section, the areas where hardness is required according to the part technical drawing are quickly raised to the hardening temperature by electrical magnetic field and cooled suddenly. Water or oil of which density is adjusted is used as cooling medium. In this way, the desired areas of the parts are hardened while the other parts remain soft.
Many large and small parts used in industry can be produced by induction surface hardening.
